Figure Modeling!

I asked the artist of the Highland Park Community Center if I could take a few snap shots of their work before I left to catch my train. It always amazes me how different their styles, creativity, expression, and experience all comes out different to suit each and every one of them. I will never stop being amazed by their work, passion, and creativity. Very inspiring to create. If you are an artist, art instructor, art directer, etc. In the Chicago area and surrounding cities that I can take the Metra to. Feel free to contact me for booking. I am an experienced figure model, I bring my own robe, water, snacks, etc, and props if needed. I do portraits, life drawing, figure drawing, figure painting, long poses, short poses, and pretty used to an environment the averages between 3-5 hours.

Model Photographer Trust

What is it? What does it mean if I allow you to take pictures of me? What are the generals rules of respect that all should be aware of?

Well basically, if I trust you to take pictures of me it means a lot.

• I like your work and I believe that we can collaborate to make art together.
• I am trusting you to tell me everything about the shoot prior to getting there. No surprises!
• I am trusting you to be honest and inform me of what your plans are to do with the pictures. 
• Send me links to your webpage, blog or any other place you chose to place the images. 
• Not to post images of me without permission or informing me. 
• I shouldn't have to google myself to see if my pictures are found and what keywords lead to them out of curiosity to stumble upon images that I've never scene. Never signed a release for. Or wasn't informed of their whereabouts. 
• Video work. I do not do Video work mostly because I have no idea what the quality is going to be like if I have never seen this in your work before. They get posted on sites I do not wish to be associated with. And if you are going to record models than you need to inform them and put it in a release. 
• It is highly unethical to record someone without their permission especially when shoots involve nudity or to have hidden cameras in the changing area or bathroom. 
• Do not approach me in a rude way. Do not send me a message saying hey I'm in your area booking shoots my rates are $$$. Unless I ask, I don't want to know. It's rude. I won't even reply to you. 
• If you ask me to send you a model resume with a list of all of the projects I've ever done, and links to all of the people I've ever worked with to "prove" that I have been modeling for 2+ years. Do not expect a pleasant reply. 
• Unsolicited advice: Not welcomed and not taken lightly. Do not tell me to wear more color, You look better in color, I'd prefer you with less makeup on you really should stop, Grow up and stop all of this Goth shit.... I will never work with you again!
• Insults: Not welcomed from photographers, designers, amatuers, famous, newyork photographers, etc. It's never okay no matter who you are. 
• Return pictures from shoots. I don't expect them over night but rather a project is tf or paid if I get one good picture back I am happy. If I don't get pictures back. Do NOT ask to work with me again. 
• Respect my boundaries: Read my profile! It clearly states that I do not shoot tf nudes, I even included a link stating why I don't shoot tf nudes. DON'T Ask! It clearly states that I DO NOT SHOOT Erotics! Don't ask! Offering me more money will not budge this. 
• Do not distort my images to the point that it is unrecognizable or unflattering. 
• Watermarks, I understand you want to protect your work  but don't put your watermark across my face or unflattering parts on my body to make my smile look crocked or eyes uneven, etc. 
• Do not talk about how your inbox is filled with lots of other models dying to work with you while we are shooting because I am not complying with what you want because you didn't read my profile to see my boundaries. 
• If I leave a shoot, I do so respectfully, alright thanks for your time, this isn't for me, I have to go by and leave it at that. Do not send me multiple text messages that are rude and insulting like, ugh models like you make me sick.....
• DO NOT insult me!
• DO NOT give me crap about my tattoos or hair! My portfolio is clear, my images show my tattoos and current hair color and length. DO Not tell me I need Remy! AKA ugly cheap ass weave because you have a problem with models with short hair! 
• Do NOT give me an attitude because your mad because my tattoo can't be captured all on one shot and you can only capture parts of it per angle. I didn't get my tattoos with you in mind so deal with it. 
• DO NOT tell me to dye my hair just to shoot with . My hair is mine and mine alone and it will be whatever color I chose it to be. 

Just be professional, honest, and nice. It makes the whole process go much smooter 

TFP Shoots!

First, don't be afraid to ask. I do not bite. I try to be as specific as possible in my portfolio to avoid constantly repeating myself and having to deal with less than professional people.

Okay So I felt the need to type this up here due to a few problems I've had with collaborations not going as planned.

What is TFP?
Time for print/photos

It means that two or more people are coming together to create photos and the payment is the photos to use for whatever the agreed upon use is.

I have a pretty developed portfolio after over 2 years of modeling. I am not looking to add any more.Only to enhance and upgrade my portfolio. It has to be something new and exciting that I have never done before to capture my attention.

Why do I shoot TF?

1.)At this point I shoot TF with the intention of shooting with like minded creative individuals who I believe will enhance my portfolio.

2.) My look changes constantly and I like to have photos the represent my current look so there are any suprises when I show up to a shoot.

3.) I shoot TF with creative people who also like me have the goals of being published in alternative magazines and having high quality work to put out there for the world to see.

4.) Creative Muse: I don't mind working and collaborating with like minded creative individuals who have projects in mind that they believe are suited for me if I am interested in it. But it has be something that I feel is beneficial to me on some level either creative, career wise, fun, intellectual, charity, or something really mind blowing that I do not wish to miss out on.

Things I will NOT do Rather it's TF of PAID!
1.) Erotics, do play dumb and act like you don't know the difference between art and porn. You may see a creative side to this, but I am not interested. Offering me more money will not make me budge on this.

2.) Commercial photography work, my profile clearly states that I am an alternative model and that I am interested in alternative shoots. Most of the request I receive for this line of work are tf and have no benefit to me or my portfolio what so ever.

3.) Fetish work, I am not into foot fetish shoots. A lot of people would like to have you believe that it's just some guy hiring you to take pictures of your feet. But what I have found by reading the fine print is quite disturbing. They require me to be okay with being touched, having my toes sucked or licked, ticking, jacking some guy off with my feet, letting guys cum on my feet, and even footsie creeps me out. I'm sorry I am not interested in this line of work even it is just guys taking pictures of my feet it has no benefit to my portfolio or place in my career thanks for understanding.

4.) Video Vixens, I am not interested in shaking my ass in some guys rap video. Which is what I find most of those request to be. Sorry you are barking up the wrong tree.


Problem...
 #3 Over the past year, I've been shooting tf with people clearly stating before working together that I'm interested in submitting to alternative magazines and that is the only main reason why I agree to shoot with them. But I have not been able to submit a single thing.

1.) I don't get pictures back from a shoot.

2.) The pictures I do get aren't good enough.

3.) I submit to magazines and get approved and I let the photographers know that I submitted and send them the guidelines for submissions and crickets. I haven't heard back from either one of them.

Solution...

1.) If you are looking to collaborate with me and it only benefits your project but does nothing for my portfolio. I have Rates they are reasonable.

2.) If you would like to shoot tf with me you must agree that to shoot a concept both of us can use and after submissions (if we decide to submit to any) fill out the photographers side of the applications so that our work can be published in the following issue. If I have worked with you TF before, and I've submitted to magazines yet never heard back from you I will never shoot TF with you Again!

3.) I do not shoot tf nudes, lingerie, or bikini work and very selective of projects that I do choose.

4.) You cannot try to control the shoot and have a my way or the highway kind of attitude. I will end the shoot early and never work with you again.

5.) You should be fully aware that I am an alternative model and I am interested in shooting in mostly alternative fashions. "Traditional" styled shoots aren't really for me. I'm not generally interested. Its ones of those things that I am fully capable of doing, but wouldn't benefit me in any way.  Again I have rates! They are reasonable just ask or make me an offer even better.

Photographers
Basically I'm only interested in shooting tf if its an alternative, dark, horror, gore,....etc. concept that I can use for magazine submissions and if you are fine with all of the agreements most magazine require after approving submissions. These are most magazine requirements not mine.

I am genuinely interested in shooting with creative like minded individuals.  "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable" -unknown. I am looking to collaborate with people capable of creating art that shocks, captivates, scares, disturbs, and just pushes the button and goes outside of the box.

1.) Unmarked photos Watermarks looks like they copied them right off the internet without permission even if they do have permission it's still highly unprofessional.

2.) Unpublished photos, I know after shoots we both get excited to share them with the world and your intial reaction is to post them on all of your social media sites and such, but they are much more valuable after waiting until after they are published then sharing the tearsheets.

3.) Large Hi Res images that are at least 300 DPI or bigger. Please let me know in advanced if you do not know how to enlarge images to fit into these standards.

4.) Credits and permission from everyone involved via email mostly. They may ask you to send them an email okaying the use of the images. Send you and email asking if it's okay. Or ask you to print, sign, and scan the release to send it back to them. This includes models, photographers, designers, makeup artist, stylist, and anyone else involved in the creation of the photos.

5.) If we agree to shoot to submit to a magazine, please be willing to commit to it before and after the shoot. And if you have any questions, concerns, or issues please let me know in advance before agreeing to shoot together to save both of us time.

I have clothes that are unphotographed and different looks that I would like to experiment with along with makeup ideas and hair styles I'd like to portray. I have list on my model mayhem account and I tend to post a lot here too. If you are curious about them just ask and we can collaborate together. Thanks


Designers
I am willing to work tf for runway, shoots for websites, and promotional work as well.

Artist/Painters/illustrators/etc.
I have rates they are reasonable. I am a figure model, I work at various art schools all over the city. I can hold poses anywhere from 10 seconds to 1hr depending on the pose, posture, standing, sitting, etc and with breaks of course.

Charity
I am willing to shoot tf if it's to promote or benefit some sort of charity.

Why I don’t shoot Nudes Tf?

Assumption: Because I’m nude I deserve to get paid.


Reality: I have far too many nudes in my portfolio and it is nice to do every once in a while, but I do not wish to just do nudes only.

1.)     I am more interested in Alternative modeling,  huge umbrella term for dark, edgy, Gothic, Horror, Gore, Pinup, Art, Fantasy, Etc.

2.)    The purpose of a TF shoot is to either A) Add to my portfolio assuming I don’t have any pictures of anything in a certain category. B) to Update my portfolio on my new look when my Appearance changes in any way ; tattoos, piercings, hair color, hair length, or anything. C) To enhance my portfolio. Meaning that in order for two parties or even a group to get together and trade their time and talent for photos, it has to be beneficial to all parties. I do not feel that nudes are beneficial to my portfolio, though I enjoy doing them. It is not the direction I wish for my career to go into. I do not wish to be side tracked and it takes time and energy away from my other projects.

3.)    Sometimes I unfortunately do not receive pictures back from photo shoots. With Nudes I am very cautious on whom I choose to work with. If it is a paid shoot at least I can say oh, I got paid that was part of the agreement, I don’t need the pictures back. Typically on paid assignments I am made aware that the Photographer is getting paid by a third party for those photos so they cannot post them anywhere. So I understand.

4.)    Respect! This is my art. This is my body and by doing only paid work when it comes to nudes narrows down the amount of creeps I get approaching me. And it allows people to take me more seriously as a model, an artist, and a person overall.

5.)    Last year when I first started shooting nudes I ran into a lot of problems that’s part of the reason why I went into a deep depression because I wasn’t happy with my life and the direction it was going. I got sidetracked with everybody else and their projects that I had no time to do my own.

6.)    The reason why I started modeling in the first place was because I wanted to be an alternative model. I want to have the freedom to be myself to the fullest without holding back and work with like minded creative people who wish to do the same. A part of me comes to life when I’m in front of the camera provided I work with the right people. A part of me that is left dead otherwise. I need art like I need to breath and this is one of my lungs and a huge chunk of my heart. I do not wish to get side tracked again. I am mostly interested in clothed alternative shoots. If you wish to shoot an artistic nude concept with me message me for my rates. If you are an art instructor or artist and you are looking for figure models I am available and reliable. That is All thank you. 

Bikini and Lingerie Modeling

It's that time of year again where I am booked solid and out of my mind busy with shoots and everybody and there mama wants to shoot bikini and lingerie shoots.

At first I didn't want to do these kind on of shoots because they don't quite match up well with my career goals. I did a few shoots like this so that potential clients can see what I look like in a Bikini so that I can get booked for more work and show variety in my portfolio. But this journey has been quite complicated. Most designers that I work with are on a TF basis for mostly Runway gigs and a few shoots here and there for their websites and blogs.

I didn't want to get into Bikini and Lingerie modeling because I didn't want to get side tracked like I did last year and too far gone from my original goals of modeling. I don't mind doing these shoots but I am selective of them.

1.) I will not do these tf because I end up having to buy the wardrobe needed for the shoots. Which I don't mind. But a lot of photographers that Hire me seem to have problems with my wardrobe. Because they have different ideas in mind in terms of style, color, and concept. I do not buy clothes that I don't like and don't feel comfortable in for the purpose of one maybe two shoots. If you are particularly picky about what kinds of things you want me to bring to the shoot and not open for my interpretation of what I think you may mean or what I want from that. Then you should either A, buy models wardrobe to shoot the specific styles that you want. Buy multiple sizes and colors for shoots and have them dry cleaned or wash them for shoots. Most lingerie and bikini shoots should just let you keep them, but some of them don't. Or B. Be as specific as possible with approaching me with a shoot in mind and I'll be able to better decided from there if your project fits into my personal career goals.

2.) A lot of lingerie and Bikini's that photographers would like me to wear is what I deem to be trashy and sleazy or just plain ugly and generaly makes me feel uncomfortable. When that happens I will stop the shoot, that can be avoided with good communication prior to the shoot.

3.) I will only shoot lingerie and Bikini shoots when A, their paid. B, I feel comfortable with your ideal or concept. C, I'm working with a designer or stylist on set and creating an elaborate look to add to my portfolio.

4.) I will not shoot Lingerie and Bikini shoots tf because this is not the direction that I want my career to go. I have to invest a lot of my own money into the wardrobe and half the time some don't like it and try to be controlling at shoots. Doing this kind of work, I have to be careful there are a lot of creeps out there that has nothing better to do but try to see women either naked or fully naked. I have to make sure that I am entering a safe environment with an artistic person and artistic purpose in mind before entering a shoot. This is similar to the same reason I do not shoot nudes TF.

Designers
5.) I am only interested in shooting TF in this genre if and only IF a stylist and or designer is on set or sends them to shoot in for their website for promotional use. Or/and runway modeling. I have no use to shoot this with photographers.

Okay so these are the kind of swim suits, bikini's, and lingerie that I would like to wear that match up with my career  and personal goals.

As you can see there's a huge gap between what you see as reference here and the kind of work that I've been doing as of lately. So you can see why I can be very selective with shoots if it does  not match my career or personal goals of submitting to alt magazines.

Respect for Models!

Not to mention the time spent learning how to do hair and makeup, researching styles, concepts, and ideas for shoots. Putting up with GWC's to get to a professional photographer. The time it takes to build up a portfolio when less than half of the photographers and people you work with are professional enough to return the pictures from the shoot/show/gig. And less than half of the pictures that are returned to models are worthy of a portfolio/publication.

Time spent working with professional photographers and going to professional photo shoots. Not just self taken photos in the mirror, pictures of us clubbing or spending time with out friends/family. And not photos like these. 

Respect models because for some of us modeling is our full-time/part-time job and it is how we can cover bills and basic expenses to allow us to shoot in the first place. Some have full-time jobs and take time off to shoot for even tf shoots, travel far and out of state, don't have cars etc. And go to extremes to make the shoot what it is. 

Some models even take acting classes or learn on our own to emote better to the camera and not just pose for the camera but, channel into a deeper part of us to bring it out to life in order to make the pictures what it is. It's not just about standing there looking pretty and memorizing a bunch of cliche poses. But when modeling is like acting without words. We're basically a character for a day that may or may not relate to our personality so it requires a degree of acting, expressing emotion, being comfortable in our own skin. 

Some models even take up photography to understand what it's like on the other side of the lens to have a better view of what makes a good photo. Even without the study of photography we have to be aware of lighting, setting, background, colors, angles, etc. 

If you are a professional photographer, makeup artist, hair stylist, or fashion/accessory designer. It would benefit you greatly to hire professional models to get the best out of your work. 

When asking a professional model for a trade shoot make sure that you have something in your portfolio worthy of the trade on His/Her end of the bargain. You may benefit from having them in your portfolio, but if your work isn't good, he/she/they will not benefit from it if it is not something new, fun exciting, to add to or enhance their portfolio. Models generally only shoot tf if it's with someone that's talented and has something to add or enhance to their portfolio and or it is for charity, or runway gig. 

Do not be offended if they say "No thank you I prefer to work with professionals only" or "I'm only accepting paid gigs right now."

DO NOT post rude things on your website, social media site, portfolio platform site I.E. Model Mayhem, Model Insider, etc. 

ex. "I don't pay models, models pay me I'm the one with the camera, equipment, and photography degree. All you do is stand there and pose. As far as working out, getting your hair and makeup done you are supposed to do all of that anyways." 

Those same photographers are the same ones always asking for critique on what they can do to enhance their portfolios. 

How about start with respect for you subjects. Just because I'm an artist does not mean that I don't deserve to get paid. If you have a mentality that your job is somehow much more important than mine then I do not want to work with you. 

If you respect your subjects you'll have great pictures and a great portfolio, good experiences, build connections, and continue to go far in your career. Don't respect Models and you will be shooting still images of fruit and manikins!

Modeling: Off to photoshoot before pictures

I'm loving my new hair which is slighlty uneven because I did it myself and I got a little anxious with the scissors.

She's a high fashion, Alternative model, and performer all in one. I also discovered her through Gothic Beauty Magazine (which happens to be my favorite magazine). I checked out her website and it's pretty eye catching too. I really like the picture of her with Kathleen Marie's Wig and red dress on. I adore the skulls inside of the roses in her hair.

Lisa Jablonski
She's a cosmotagist and and rocker, most importantly she's from Chicago and so am I. I like she her photos can go from edgy Rocker girl to soft Fearie. I like her hair colors and they match well with her makeup and outfits. I also found her on Mooky Chick and I think she's awesome and inspiring. She's been modeling for almost two years now I think, but she's had so much success within her First year. When I was in Chicago, I thought that it was not  a good location for artist, designers, models, especially alternative one's, and everything was easier on the east coast,west coast, Europe, or some place else. Now that I haven't lived there in a year, I see so some much happening with the art,modeling,fashion, Alternative, etc communities. Lisa is a huge inspiration for others who feel this way about their town.

I've had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with her at Grafetti Warehouse in Baltimore. She is one talented model, I look forward to working with her again one day.She's playful and funny I enjoyed working with her, Her style doesn't really fit close to one label. I've seen her cosplay, in cemataries, cyberlox, rainbows, corsets, long flowing skirts, etc. I always love the way she puts together her outfits and makeup. I definately envy her eylashes.

Orla Rose
I love her look, she's always decked to the nines in victorian,steampunk, fearie like clothing and she wears them well. Her look alone has a nice retro feel about her. I've also had the pleasure of meeting her at Grafetti Warehouse too. She's a really talented model and a kind hearted person too, She comes off as very warm and friendly.

Quick Post

Ok so I'm moving to Chicago July first and already booking shoots this week with photographers that wanna catch me before I leave.If any artist, art instructors, photographers, etc wanna book me for a shoot or event let me know ASAP!
For those of you that sent me messages regarding custom orders for either jewelry,clothing, or accessories I request that you at least pay me for half before I start the project and the other half when I'm done.my PayPal doesn't work ATM so I'll be deleting it and getting a new one soon.because I'm moving I probably won't start until I'm settled.PM me for more info if interested.

Sneak Peak from today

  Today I had a photo shoot with Micheal From RAA photography, model Travon and a Yoga Instructor Opal Rose, and a makeup artist(sorry I forgot her name I'll check that for you later). This is my second time working with Micheal and the experience was nothing but good. I will be receiving photos back from our last shoot soon to share with you guys on my Model Mayhem and Model Insider accout. Due to adult content (slight nudity) I will not be posting these images on facebook. Possibly the not so racy ones will be posted here and maybe facebook page.

It was fun, I haven't done yoga in a while and I'm not to flexible especially with a crink in my neck, but I did just fine by not breaking anything. Yoga, Dancing, Acting, and Makeup Artistry are defenitely good things to get into if you are pursueing a career in modeling. It will help to make you more self aware, well versed, and marketable especially for Agencies If you are thinking of joining any somewhere along in your career.

Shooting nudes or implieds are not for everyone. If you just started modeling and you are a little body concious I DO NOT suggest that you jump right into nudes, especially if you are only doing it for the money. If you are uncomfortable it will show on camera, and those images will become USELESS to you and the photographer. With that being said, unfortunately a model left early today, because she was not comfortable with the nature of the shoot. It's definately not something for everyone. You have to have the passion for it and being comfortable with the people you are working with, in front of the camera, and in general. Honestly if you would've asked me to shoot nudes a year ago when I first started modeling, I probably would have looked at you strange, "I'm sorry you want me to shoot in what? No thank you I don't shoot nudes." then smile and walk away.

Now I'm more of a free spirit and I'm learning to use my body as a work of art. As I learn more and more about the industry and the people around me, I'm better able to access who and what I'm comfortable with so I don't mind shooting nudes now, but I have conditions. I have to be comfortable with the concept, the person, their work, and the location in which I will be shooting in and a whole bunch of other things as well.

Why Alternative modeling?

  I like Alternative modeling better than fashion modeling because of the freedom of self expression, and diversity. There are no limitations to creativity and no body standards. You do not have to be tall, skinny, short, light skinned, dark skinned, have long hair or short hair. The alternative scenes are more open minded towards appearance, lifestyles, religion, and everything else. It's okay to have tattoos, piercing, hand dye your hair any color of the rainbow and multiple colors if you want. I have nothing against fashion modeling, fact I'd like to do both alternative modeling and fashion modeling and maybe expand to other genres to.

I just like able to chose who I want to work with, meet new people, wear what I feel comfortable in  I often sew or up-cycle my own clothing for shoots. They are not just costumes I wear for the camera to play dress up in. These are clothing from my wardrobe that I wear to school, hang out, or when I just feel like dressing up. I'm going to school for fashion design and have been sewing for about tow years now. I nice portion of my wardrobe is self made. For those of you who have asked, I do not have a personal website that I use to sell any of these items but I will soon enough. I'll post links to my Facebook Page, model mayhem, and this blog too if you want. But baby steps right.

I like the alternative scene better as it reflects my personality, lifestyles, and interest. I model as a way to express myself with my body and facial expressions. I just stated modeling but already I have had the pleasure of working with very talented people and have been introduced to talented people that I'd love to work with one day. I'll write up a list of the people I've worked with and reviews of them as well. But, alternative modeling allows me to be myself basically and show the world just who that is. I have had an interest in the scene for about a couple of years now and recently more open about it for about 5 years. And modeling just helps me to express those interest in a way that I'm not used to.
